English
Saber—primarily an officer's weapon with a light, single-edged
blade,
plus a basket hilt and
a flattened, ovoid pommel seen in late
17th-century
examples. The end section of the blade is missing.
It
is rare in archaeological collections to find an almost complete sword
with the blade, hilt, and pommel all present.
This
example was
recovered from Jordan's Journey near Hopewell in Prince George County.
