Sydenstricker School,
 Fairfax County

Constructed in 1928, Sydenstricker School in Springfield was the last one-room schoolhouse built prior to school consolidation in Fairfax County, as well as the last operating one-room schoolhouse in the county when it closed in 1939.
In 1954, the Upper Pohick Community League the oldest community association in the Springfield area, and one of the oldest in the county purchased the building from Fairfax County. It has since owned and maintained the schoolhouse, which remains remarkably little altered from its original construction date.
