Restoration Begins.

One of the first decisions that had to be made was to what period in Anne’s 70-year association with the garden should it be restored. Ultimately, Jane Baber White established the 1937 garden depicted in photographs as the benchmark. The first-phase restoration re-established fences, walkways, flower beds and other plantings. An Eagle Scout candidate also led fellow scouts in rebuilding Edward's grape arbor and pergola. Twenty-seven years later a second-phase restoration replaced that arbor and pergola with more historically accurate structures.
