Archaeology on the Edge:
Environmental Archaeology in Virginia

Each October Virginia highlights the importance of archaeological resources and research to education, to tourism, and to our understanding of the people who have lived in Virginia and shaped the culture and landscape we know today. Organizations and sites across the state present special tours, exhibits, hands-on events, lectures by noted archaeologists, family-fun days and much, much more.

It’s time to finalize your plans for celebrating this annual event. To receive free posters and other promotional material and be listed in the Calendar of Events sent to schools, all participants, and other friends of archaeology, complete the attached Event Form and return it to Dee DeRoche, Chief Curator and Virginia Archaeology Month Co-coordinator, Department of Historic Resources, 2801 Kensington Ave., Richmond, VA 23221 by July 30 (or via email to Dee DeRoche). Contact Dee by phone at 804-367-2323 x134. The Department of Historic Resources will send press releases on events to local media.
