Calendar of DHR Events

May 1, 9 a.m.–12 noon: Rehabilitation Tax Credit Open House, in Richmond, at the Department of Historic Resources, 2801 Kensington Avenue (directions). DHR tax credit staff work one-on-one with applicants and property owners, answer questions and provide guidance for completing tax credit applications on the first Friday of each month. If you have a question about the historic character-defining features ofyour building, architectural treatments, or application requirements, then bring plans, photos, and any other information that would be helpful in understanding your project. May 6 & 7:  National Preservation Institute, "Landscape Preservation."  DHR is sponsoring, hosting, and coordinating this seminar with the NPI, which will be held at DHR's headquarters, 2801 Kensington Avenue, Richmond. For more information, contact Sue Smead, at DHR.

May 17, 2 p.m.: "Early Airmail Service-Studley Beacon" historical marker dedication: DHR will participate in the dedication ceremony for this new historical highway marker. The public ceremony will be held in Studley.

Upcoming Board Meeting

10 a.m., June 18: Joint meeting of the Department of Historic Resources' State Review Board and Historic Resources Board, Halsey Lecture Hall, Virginia Historical Society, Richmond.

The State Review Board and the Historic Resources Board will meet to consider nominations to the state and national registers, new historical highway markers, and historic preservation easements. The meeting is open to the public. Pending nominations are posted for review on the DHR website before the meeting.
