The Virginia Department of Historic Resources is pleased to announce the issuing of the Survey and Planning Cost Share Program Request for Applications (RFA) for the 2008-2009 program cycle on Tuesday, April 15, 2008. The RFA invites local governments and Planning District Commissions to submit applications for survey and planning–based projects requesting DHR partnership funding.
The Cost Share program presents a tremendous opportunity for localities to request substantial financial and administrative support for historic preservation survey and planning activities. Typically the costs of funded projects are shared between the locality and the state (however, in some cases DHR may be able to provide more than an equal cost match). Average budgets for Cost Share projects range from $10,000 to $40,000 or more. Also, participation in the Cost Share program relieves local governments of many of the burdens of grant administration, as DHR typically acts as the administrator for Cost Share projects.
For the 2008-09 cycle, DHR encourages applications for large-scale historic resource documentation projects and is especially interested in projects that will support the Governor’s land use and transportation planning initiatives. Applications are due by 4:00 PM on Tuesday, June 10, 2008 – see the RFA for application instructions. For paper copies of the RFA, send an email request to: Susan.Smead@dhr.virginia.gov.
The Virginia Department of Historic Resources (DHR) issued the Request for Proposals (RFP) for the 2007-08 Survey and Planning Cost Share Program cycle on August 30, 2007. The RFP invites proposals for eleven separate projects with a deadline of September 26, 2007. The following link is a list of the awards for RFP 2008-001.
