Dr. Ann Alexander, of Christiansburg, is Professor of History at Mary Baldwin College, where she teaches United States, Appalachian, and Virginia History. She is the author of the book Race Man:  The Rise and Fall of "Fighting Editor" John Mitchell Jr., which was published by the University of Virginia Press.  Dr. Alexander is a contributor to the Dictionary of Virginia Biography and the Dictionary of American Negro Biography, and has published articles in the Virginia Magazine of History and Biography and Virginia Cavalcade. She received her Ph.D. at Duke University, and joined the Mary Baldwin College faculty in 1989.
