Dr. Patrick Butler, of Alexandria, is Chair of the Historic Resources Board. He also serves as vice-chair of the Historic Alexandria Resources Commission. He has over 40 years experience as a museum professional and consultant in museum and archival administration, publishing on topics such as historic house museums and period exhibits, historic preservation and restoration, and colonial society in Tidewater Virginia. His research includes attitudes towards death, the image of museums in popular culture, and the history of the Episcopal Church in Virginia. Dr. Butler serves on the Board of Trustees for Historic Alexandria Foundation, and maintains membership in the International Committee on Museums, and the American Association of Museums. He has a Ph.D. in History from Johns Hopkins University. |
