Shady Grove School, Louisa Co.

The one-teacher school plan shown in the previous slide clearly served as the basis for the Shady Grove School, constructed in 1925.

One of only two Rosenwald Schools built in Louisa County, the school retains much of its orginal building material, even as it shows some signs of deterioration in a 2008 photo (left).  The weatherboard siding is original along with the metal roof.  A comparison between a historic photo reveals just how well-preserved the original building remains.
