Despite relic hunting damage from 1986, evidence of a late 17th-/18th-century well less than 15 feet from the west foundation wall survived and was partially excavated in 2008. Excavations that same year also revealed a cellar entrance immediately to the north, suggesting the original house kitchen was in the cellar of the west wing.
