Tasset Lames
 —Early
17th century.  These
two lames, strips of sheet metal, were riveted together as part of a tasset
that protected the upper leg.  The separate strips were overlapped
and attached in such a way that they would move when the wearer
moved.  To work properly they would have to overlap in the upward
direction.  You can see at least one brass rivet.

This group was recovered
from Jordan’s Journey in Prince George County near Hopewell.
