Situated on the bucolic rolling hills of western Loudoun, one mile southwest of Waterford, the thirty-acre Laurel Hill Farm property consists of an evolved ca. 1793 brick farmhouse along with a number of contributing secondary resources, including an original stone springhouse and a two-story stone barn dating to 1824. The property’s architectural significance stems from its complex evolution, with the original Federal-style farmhouse expanded over multiple building campaigns that reflect changing tastes, material circumstances, and influences shaping local building practices. The farm’s surviving collection of agricultural outbuildings conveys its significant associations with a continuum of cultivation practices spanning from the second half of the 18th century into the mid-20th century.
