Southwest No. 3 Boundary Marker of the Original District of Columbia is located at the north end of the parking lot of the First Baptist Church on King Street in the city of Alexandria. Unlike the other boundary mile markers, the SW No. 3 stone was not placed at the exact mile marker along the original district boundary. Since the end of the mile was in a ravine, this marker is located slightly less than three miles from the South Corner on Jones Point. The Southwest No. 3 Boundary Marker was listed under the Multiple Property Document (MPD) form for the Boundary Markers of the Original District of Columbia.
Many properties listed in the registers are private dwellings and are not open to the public, however many are visible from the public right-of-way. Please be respectful of owner privacy.
